Finding A Troy-Bilt Model and Serial Number

Why are model numbers and serial numbers important?

A model number and serial number identify the type and production series of a particular Troy-bilt product. These numbers are essential if you want to find original replacement parts for your equipment. Only a few parts on your equipment have a part number stamped on them. But by identifying the model and serial number of your machine, you can use our parts look-up tool with its model-specific diagrams to find the parts you need.

What should the numbers look like?

Here is a description of Troy-bilt's current numbering system (1997 and later). The model number is usually positioned on the left side of the identification plate, and is generally 11 characters long. A character could be a number, dash or letter. The serial number is also 11 characters long, and is often positioned on the right side of the plate.

Here's an example: model number 21A-662G766; serial number 1C133K80064

Where are the tags with these numbers located ?

Model/Serial number tags are located in areas unlikely to need replacement - even after years of use. This page shows where the tag is likely to be on various product types. Look for a metal plate or a durable plastic decal that's approximately 2" by 3" in size. It may also show Troy-bilt's name, a bar code and a few other numbers.
